Position Overview

\n

The Ray team is seeking a Senior Designer to support our design team in all aspects of interior design, from concept through to completion. Reporting to the Design Director, this role offers valuable hands-on experience in design and project management. This is an ideal position for a detail-oriented, eager, and passionate designer looking to grow with a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

    \n
  • Lead interior design projects through every phase: Concept through Construction Administration, and final FF&E Installation.
  • \n
  • Work closely with the Creative Director and Design Director to translate the brand vision into cohesive, executable design.
  • \n
  • Lead 3d model design concepts and render in 3d modeling software.
  • \n
  • Spearhead and manage design deliverables for multiple large (300-500 units) and complex-sized projects concurrently through all project phases with minimal supervision.
  • \n
  • Manage and review detailed design drawing sets and shop drawings (built-in furniture, lighting, joinery, furniture layouts) & schedules for submission and review.
  • \n
  • Manage and review project design and design packages (including drawing sets) ensuring efficiency, adherence to schedule, and alignment with brand and partner expectations.
  • \n
  • Establish strong relationships with strategic partners, vendors, and consultants and represent the company in all key external communications.
  • \n
  • Serve as a point of contact for design between owners, architects, and contractors (consultants), ensuring excellent communication.
  • \n
  • Manage key departmental initiatives as required.

Qualifications

\n
    \n
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • \n
  • 6-10 years of relevant post-degree experience at an architecture or interior design office.
  • \n
  • Experience with Concept, Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD), and Construction Administration (CA) phases for interior architecture projects.
  • \n
  • Experience managing and sourcing FF&E and specifications.
  • \n
  • The ability to read and interpret architectural/shop drawings, renderings, and construction specifications.
  • \n
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • \n
  • An ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of Interior and FF&E vendors.
  • \n
  • A general awareness of cultural conversations around design, architecture, art, and real estate.
  • \n

Software

    \n
  • Required: AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator), Google Suite, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • \n
  • A plus: Revit and other 3D modeling software.
  • \n
\n

\n

Location

\n

This is a hybrid role based in our NYC office, with an average of 2-3 days in-office per week, scheduled based on project and team needs.

\n

Compensation

• 125-145K annually dependent on experience
